EducationColumbia University - BS, Visual Arts and Pre-Medical Studies
ExperienceWhen I graduated in 2011, with a BA in Visual Arts and Pre-Medical Studies, I was in awe that I had finally made it. The dream to go to Columbia University had seemed an impossible one, as I came from a very poor background. Luckily, I had teachers backing me who thankfully saw the person I could become. These amazing teachers taught me that learning can be a pleasure and you don't get to be successful if you don't work hard to succeed. I want to be a pediatrician and have found that I enjoy tutoring others. I have tutored classmates in Physics and Calculus, during the summer months and have experience tutoring in Math and even Spanish. I am a firm believer in the idea that learning needs to be fun in order to reach students. I teach my students by having them draw pictures and improve their memories by providing easy, catchy phrases that are related to the subject they are trying to learn. It's important to me for my students to know that they can call on me to help them, but I am not there to just hand out the answers. Tutoring is one of my passions and I'm never happier than when I'm making a subject easier to learn for others.
